Chris Mackay (Chairman)

Gerald Stack (Head of Research and Portfolio Manager)
Gerald Stack joined Magellan in January 2007. Prior to joining Magellan, Gerald spent thirteen years in global infrastructure investment management. Gerald has extensive experience in investment management on a global basis, including investment in listed and unlisted assets across the capital structure incorporating debt, equity and hybrids. Prior to joining Magellan, Gerald was a Director of Capital Partners (now known as CP2) where he was Head of Securities Research and a member of the Management Investment Committee. Gerald is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Economics and an MBA, both from Sydney University.
Gerald is the Chairman of Magellan’s Investment Committee and the Portfolio Manager for the Magellan Infrastructure Fund.
Dennis Eagar (Portfolio Manager)
Dennis Eagar joined Magellan in January 2007. Prior to joining Magellan, Dennis spent sixteen years in a variety of roles within the infrastructure industry. His career included senior executive roles with Macquarie Bank and Leighton Holdings Limited. Dennis’ qualifications include a Bachelor of Science (majoring in Statistics) from Macquarie University, a Diploma in Project Management from New England University and Graduate Diplomas in Applied Finance and Financial Planning from the Financial Services Institute of Australasia.
Dennis is a member of Magellan’s Investment Committee and the Portfolio Manager for the Magellan Core Infrastructure Fund.
Domenico Giuliano (Portfolio Manager)
Domenico Giuliano joined Magellan in March 2007. Prior to joining Magellan, Domenico spent eleven years in a variety of investment and actuarial roles. Most recently he was an Executive Director with Morgan Stanley, where he led insurance sector coverage for the Asia-Pacific region. Domenico was the lead analyst for the IPO of two of China’s largest insurers and had coverage and oversight responsibilities for insurers in Australia, New Zealand, China, Taiwan and South Korea. Prior to his role with Morgan Stanley, Domenico was a consultant with Tillinghast Towers Perrin, working in their Melbourne, Milan and Sydney offices. His assignments at Tillinghast spanned mergers & acquisitions, economic valuations, liability valuations, market entry and product development. Domenico holds a Masters in Business Administration from the Australian Graduate School of Management and a Bachelor of Economics from Macquarie University. Domenico is also a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia.
Domenico is a member of Magellan’s Investment Committee.
Nikki Thomas, CFA (Portfolio Manager)
Nikki Thomas joined Magellan in January 2007. Prior to joining Magellan, Nikki spent fourteen years in institutional stockbroking as an equities analyst at BT Securities and Deutsche Bank. At Deutsche Nikki was heavily involved in the development of valuation tools for use across the research team. Nikki completed the CFA Program in 1997 and is an active member of the CFA Society of Sydney. Furthermore Nikki is a Chartered Accountant and has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of NSW.
Nikki is a member of Magellan’s Investment Committee.
Kris Webster, CFA (Senior Investment Analyst)
Kris Webster joined Magellan in February 2008 from Capital Partners (now known as CP2), where he spent five years as a Senior Investment Analyst. During his career Kris has focused on the transport and infrastructure sectors including ports, toll roads and railroads. Prior to this, Kris spent four years as an academic at the University of New South Wales’ School of Banking and Finance. Kris is a CFA Charterholder and has a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons 1) from the University of New South Wales.
Caius Christoe (Investment Analyst)
Caius Christoe joined Magellan in February 2012. Prior to joining Magellan, Caius spent twelve years in institutional stockbroking as an equities analyst covering the healthcare and pharmaceuticals sectors including at Morgan Stanley, the Royal Bank of Canada and the Royal Bank of Scotland. Caius has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Sydney, a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment (FINSIA), and has completed Level 2 of the CFA Program.
Vihari Ross (Investment Analyst)
Vihari Ross joined Magellan in May 2007. Prior to joining Magellan, Vihari was an equities analyst for four years with the Australian equities fund manager, Ausbil Dexia Limited, covering the financial and consumer sectors. Vihari is an Associate of the Institute of Actuaries, holds a Masters in Finance as well as a Bachelor in Actuarial Studies and Finance from the University of NSW.
Chris Wheldon, CFA (Investment Analyst)
Chris Wheldon joined Magellan in October 2007. Prior to joining Magellan, Chris spent three years working with the private investment company Farallon Capital in Brisbane and two years assisting in the management of his family’s private investment portfolio. His experience encompassed asset allocation, security selection and transactional duties. Chris has a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance and Accounting) and Bachelor of Business from the University of Queensland and has completed the CFA Program.
Vinayak Muralidharan (Investment Analyst)
Vinayak joined Magellan in February 2011 from Ernst and Young where he spent three years as a cadet in their financial services office. At Ernst and Young, Vinayak specialised in providing assurance and due diligence services to ASX listed financial institutions in Banking, Capital Markets and Asset Management. As part of this role, Vinayak has conducted work on the financial statements and valuation models for funds with investments in listed global equities and unlisted infrastructure assets. Vinayak has a Bachelor of Business from the University of Technology, Sydney and is a CFA Level 1 Candidate.
Matthew Cross (Investment Analyst)
Matthew joined Magellan in August 2011 from KPMG where he spent two and a half years as a graduate while completing the Chartered Accountants Program. While at KPMG, Matthew specialised in providing financial statement and regulatory assurance services to a range of financial services companies for ASX listed and unlisted entities. Matthew holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Newcastle and is a Level 2 candidate in the CFA Program.
Ryan Joyce (Investment Analyst)
Ryan joined Magellan in February 2012. Prior to joining Magellan Ryan worked as a civil engineer in Queensland for approximately 18 months. Ryan’s experience included capital cost estimates for infrastructure projects, detailed engineering design and optimization studies. Ryan has a Bachelor of Engineering with First Class Honours from the University of Queensland.
Adam Smith (Dealer & Business Analyst)
Adam Smith joined Magellan in April 2011. Prior to joining Magellan, Adam spent the last three years in a variety of roles within institutional stockbroking and research sales at Macquarie Securities and Bank Credit Analyst (BCA) Research. Adam has a Bachelor of Accounting from the University of Technology Sydney and has completed Level 1 of the CFA Program.
Distribution
Frank Casarotti (Head of Distribution)
Frank has some 30 years relevant financial services experience having joined the Australian Eagle Insurance Group in 1979. Prior to joining MFG, Frank held a senior distribution management role with Colonial First State (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Commonwealth Bank), one of Australia’s largest and most successful investment and platform administration companies. He joined Colonial First State (then known as First State Fund Managers) as its Queensland State Manager in 1992 and relocated to Sydney to take up the role of Head of Adviser Distribution in 2001. During his 14 years with the Colonial Group, Frank was a significant contributor to a strategy which resulted in growth in funds under management and administration from $800 million to over $100 billion in 2007. His role at Colonial extended from the promotion of Colonial’s asset management business capability to its entry into the platform market, with the extremely successful launch of FirstChoice in 2002.
Frank is a passionate believer in quality financial planning advice and is a regular speaker at industry and dealer group conferences within Australia and overseas.
Matthew Webb, CFA (Head of Institutional Clients)
Matthew has over twelve years financial services experience. Prior to joining Magellan, Matthew was with Australia’s largest fund manager, Colonial First State for over eight years in a variety of distribution roles, working across three states as a Business Development Manager; then in national roles as Manager of Research Relationships, National Manager Investments, and as Head of Investment Sales.
Matthew is a CFA Charterholder and a member of IMCA Australia; he also has lectured for Kaplan Professional for over ten years, covering both Masters and undergraduate courses in finance. Matthew has a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Western Australia and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Financial Services Institute of Australasia.
Zarina Kalapesi (Head of Institutional Business)
Zarina has over 11 years experience in the institutional market place across the UK, Japan and Australia. Zarina previously held investment consulting roles at Mercer and Russell Investments and more recently was the Head of Institutional Business (UK) and Head of Global Consultant Relationships at Orbis Investment Advisory Limited in the UK. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce & Science from The University of Melbourne and is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in both Australia and the UK.
Mark Burgess (Head of Research Relationships & Key Account Manager – NSW)
Mark has over 15 years financial services experience commencing with Bankers Trust in 1994. Prior to joining Magellan, Mark was Key Account Manager and Head of Research at Zurich Investments for the last 2 years. Before that Mark spent 5 years at Challenger Financial Services in distribution roles including State Manager of NSW and Head of Research Relationships. Mark also worked in distribution at Colonial First State from 1998 – 2003 following his time at BT Funds Management. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce at Wollongong University and had a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance.
Allan Evans (Key Account Manager)
Allan has 22 years of financial services industry experience spanning roles in operations, administration, project management, technical services and distribution. For the past 11 years Allan has worked in business development in the funds management industry including seven years at HSBC Asset Management where he was the Victorian State Manager.
Allan is based in our Melbourne office. He has a Bachelor of Business in Accounting.
Damian Craven (Key Account Manager)
Damian has 15 years experience in the Financial Services industry in a number of key roles. Prior to joining Magellan he had a 10 year stint at Macquarie Bank distributing their Cash and Administration solutions to Financial Advisers and Accountants across the southern states. Damian made a significant contribution to the growth of Macquarie Cash Management Trust and Macquarie Wrap platforms with his passion and enthusiasm for quality adviser relationships. Damian is based in our Melbourne office and has responsibility for South Australia.
Rob Martin (Key Account Manager)
Rob has worked in Financial Services for 14 years holding positions in both Financial Planning and Business Development. Prior to joining MFG Rob spent 10 years with Colonial First State. Starting as a Queensland BDM then Queensland State Manager, Rob made the move to Sydney to become the National Manager of Distribution for their Boutique Alliances business. Now back in Brisbane after 2 1/2 years, Rob has set up Magellan’s Queensland office and will also be servicing financial advisers in Northern NSW.
Emma Heffernan (Key Account Manager)
Emma has worked in the financial services industry for 7 years. Prior to joining MFG, Emma was a Business Development Manager for Colonial First State in NSW. She also has experience in investments research and held distribution roles in Western Australia.
Emma has a double degree in Economics and Languages from the University of Western Australia and is currently studying towards her Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investments. She is also a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA).
Parry Morarji (NZ Key Account Manager)
Parry has over 15 years financial services experience in New Zealand. Prior to joining Magellan he was with BT Funds Management working in numerous senior sales and marketing roles including Senior Business Development Manager and National Key Account Manager. He has extensive experience in managing relationships with key financial planners, platforms, institutional and high net worth clients. Parry holds a Bachelor of Business endorsed in Finance & International Business from Massey University. Parry set-up our Auckland office and has responsibility for New Zealand.
Management Team

Nerida Campbell (Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer)
Nerida has over 20 years experience in the investment banking and finance industry, previously holding various finance and management roles including that of Chief Financial Officer for UBS AG, Australia and New Zealand. Nerida is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia, and a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Leo Quintana (Legal Counsel and Company Secretary)
Leo has 9 years experience as a corporate lawyer. He is the Legal Counsel and Company Secretary of Magellan Financial Group Limited, Magellan Asset Management Limited and Magellan Flagship Fund Limited. Leo is admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales and holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Business. He was previously an Associate – commercial and corporate group, of Harris Friedman Hyde Page Lawyers. Leo is a member of the Law Society of New South Wales and a member of the Australian Corporate Lawyers Association.
